Do any of you all remember the Peter Pandom; the massive group of Tumblr fangirls who were obsessed with the actors who played Peter Pan at Disneyland? It was one of those phenomena that, upon reflection, feels like something I hallucinated when I had the swine flu. Do y'all remember the swine flu? Those were the days.

Anyways, the fandom relied on teens who would go to Disneyland for the expressed purpose of telling Peter Pan all about their mental health issues. These fangirls would film the conversations they'd have with Peter and post them on Tumblr to great acclaim. Why they chose Peter Pan to talk about their depression instead of Goofy, I will never know. If I had to guess, I feel like the appeal of the Peter Pan character was that the actors who played him were allegedly "cute," but I never really bought it. If a man in a middling ginger wig acting whimsical got young women in 2011 going, who am I to deny them that crush?
