We, as cat people, understand and have accepted that cats have their own ways of showing affection. They won't come up to you and lick your face (usually), they won't tell you they love you (not that we'd know if they did anyway). They've got their own ways. So instead of waiting for them to love us the way we want to be loved, we try to adjust ourselves to them. We try to slow blink at our cats, because we know that's a sign of love for them. We try to headbutt our cats, even though it might look weird, for the same reason. We try to cuddle with our cats - when they allow it because we know that they do like physical contact.
We're always looking for more ways to show our cats that we love them, and we may have come across a new one today. Turns out that petting a cat with a toothbrush might remind them of being cleaned by their momma when they were babies. It's a theory, and we're not really sure if it works, but we do know that we wanna try it.

We don't wanna over-anthropomorphize our cats. We know that they're different than us. And we know that the "tears" you see in this video don't mean the same thing that our own tears do. But… you can't say that the cat in this video is not enjoying what's happening. This is a calm and happy kitty, and we love to see it.
Whether this works the way it's described or not, whether it really reminds them of their mommas or if it's something else, we do wanna try it out. Just as an experiment. If this is something that will make our cats happy, then it's totally worth the lost toothbrush in our opinions.
