Font - We need to do a deep clean but that means everyone has to come in for eight hours on a Sunday, so I've been procrastinating scheduling that. It's going to have to happen sometime in May though. We used to do this once a year and we haven't done it since pre-covid. Please let me know if there is a Sunday that you are absolutely not available, otherwise I'll assume you can work, most likely 9-5. Thank you

Font - She already works an average of 10 hours a day, sometimes she'll get a day she only works 4 or 5 hours. But a lot of days at 7am to 6:30pm. The boss is forcing everyone to come in on a Sunday to "deep clean" the place. She won't augment the work week to allow for the deep cleaning during the week.

Font - My girlfriend basically said no, I'm not coming in on the weekend because it's my only time off and is expected to always be off since that's what the job description said. Boss replied that she was putting it off for awhile but still wants everyone to come in on a Sunday regardless of what anyone says or suggests. On top of that, the boss is going to pay in cash for the extra 8 hours on the weekend. less

Font - Snowfreak2507 • 23h Sorry boss, cannot work weekends due to religious reasons. If this absolutely needs to get done, I will give you multiple other ways it can be achieved. 1. You can hire a cleaning service. 2. You can schedule the deep cleaning day on one of the five Mon-Fri work days. 3. YOU could work 2 hours overtime everyday and get stuff done each day. ... 149

Font - DublinCheezie • 22h Yep. Wage theft is The #1 property crime across America, yet it is not a punishable crime. You're lucky if you fight and just get the money that was stolen. And some people still think we're not in the middle of a class war. 989

Font - William Howard_Shaft. 20h "Paid in cash" to me sounds a lot like "off the clock". There's two options the way I see it. 1. take the cash and punch in anyway. If my boss wants me at work, I'm on the clock. If the boss wants to complain, the boss can explain why they went ahead with the liability of having their employees working off the clock, and the boss can answer any questions regarding the legality of that, both to OSHA DOL, and THEIR boss. 2. Don't go. If my boss wants me at work, I'

Font - Research And Disaster • 1d 1 Award I had a previous boss request this once. But she requested this the right way. It went something like, "Hey guys, I'm planning in doing a deep clean of the space this weekend. If anyone is interested in helping, it's overtime pay and I'll be here from 9-5! Thanks, have a great weekend." Only acceptable method. Reply 10.8k

Font - wooderlemon. 13h At that point why not just pay a cleaning company who literally do this for a living and are much better and more efficient and probably cost less than paying OT rate to as many people that decide to show up? .. 190

Font - VexillaVexme. 23h The first real restaurant I worked in used to do an annual deep clean in August, but they would close for a weekend (Sat/Sun). They'd schedule about 6 hours (paid) for the entire staff for a full scrub down. It sucked, BUT they would also feed the staff lunch from another local restaurant and then everyone who showed for cleaning would all go out to the lake for an evening BBQ on the beach and screwing around on the boss' boat.

Font - So, while it wasnt the most fun a person could possibly have with their Saturday, at least the owners tried really hard to make it worth being there. The above, paying cash to avoid OT is utter crap. Reply 654
