Font - Years ago I used to work as a pharmacy tech for a major retail pharmacy. Occasionally, we'd have to deal with patients that also happen to be doctors who believe they deserve VIP status. These are the kind of people that think that going to school for a long time means the should be held at a higher regard compared to others.

Font - This one particular doctor (we'll call him Dr. Smith) came in one day and while ringing him up he balked at the price of the prescription. Typically prescription copays were even dollar amounts but this was not. Given that this was early in the year and the price was what it was I posited that he was seeing his insurance deductible being added into the copay price. This was a typical issue we would see at the start of every year because many people don't know how their insurance plans wor

Font - He insisted that it was not his deductible and the insurance must have not been billed. I showed him the confirmation of insurance billing/approval and the price breakdown. He wasn't having it. Cue the following dialog: "I'm sorry Mr. Smith. If you want to call your insurance company to get more information you can but I can assure you the billing was performed correctly."

Font - "That's DOCTOR Smith!" "You're not my doctor..." A silence fell in the general vicinity. Pills stopped being counted, bags stopped being packed. I didn't break eye contact, his wavered. I don't know how many times in his life he tried to pull that card on people in situations where being a doctor was completely irrelevant in order to assert some misguided sense of dominance, but he found out that day that it was all an illusion.

Human body - He pulled out his credit card, paid, mumbled something unintelligible, and left visibly embarrassed.

Font - AphasiaRiver 6 hr. ago The doctors I know actually try to hide their professional status unless at work so they don't get treated differently. Part of it is they don't want to be asked for free medical advice out in the wild.

Font - Cold-Bug-4873-6 hr. ago edited 5 hr. ago At the school where i work there is a parent who is notorious for the opposite. If you call her ms or mrs she loses her shit and basically asks to be called doctor in a demeaning way, as she is a child psychologist. One of her kids' teachers is also a doctor in medicine but switched careers many years ago. As a teacher, no one calls her anything but ms.

Font - During a zoom meeting with the principal and other teachers she basically screamed at her for this and demanded being called doctor. The teacher said of course, so silly not to remember, and apologized, as one doctor of medicine to another. My understanding is that one teacher snickered amongst the silence, and the incident became a long running joke amongst the staff.

Font - +2.5 hr. ago There's a PhD doctor at my children's high school who will send you to the office if you call Ms. Smith or Mrs. Smith instead of Dr. Smith. So if you are new to the class or make a mistake (like how sometimes kids call the teacher mom) then it is a rude awakening because she has zero tolerance for "misnaming" her. She teaches psychology there too demimod2000

Font - Farva7604 hr. ago I had a professor in college who went on a ten minute rant about we shouldn't call her Mrs, Miss, or Ms. Mrs because she wasn't married to her father. Miss because she had 3 ex husbands. Ms because she wasn't a lesbian. She did this with about 5 minutes left in class. The most screwed up part was that she was a sociology professor. I dropped her class.

Font - MISProf 3 hr. ago My wife and I both have doctorates and have been referred to this way. A person helping me at a store recently stopped herself and commented she should call me Dr. I replied that my name is FIRSTNAME and that's all I ever wanted to be.
