Ever wonder if the 'Planet of the Apes' existed? Well, it does, or rather, the bunny version of it. Okunoshima, aka Rabbit Island, is home to over 1,000 rabbits who hop around, living their best lives. The history of this beautiful island that is located in Japan is actually quite sad, but we won't get into all that. We'll focus on the bright side… and that is that there are volunteers who visit this island daily to feed these cute critters and make sure that they're alright. They give them food, water, and cuddles.
There are water trays all over the island for tourists and volunteers to fill, which is super sweet. This island is dubbed the cutest island in the world, and we get why. Now, you may be wondering how on earth all these rabbits found their way to this little island? Legend has it that in 1971 one local boy freed 8 rabbits on the island, and after many decades the number of rabbits has increased to nearly 1,000.
The rabbits are incredibly friendly, and if you ever find yourself lacking in serotonin, you might consider a trip to this wonderful, magical place.
