Sounds like this student needs to run, not walk, to another job! Based on what he has heard from other employees at the restaurant and from his own experience just a week into the job, it is quite clear that this toxic boss pulls this kind of tomfoolery on a regular basis.

 

By tomfoolery, we mean asking workers to stay late despite any prior engagements they may have and changing schedules last minute without checking with employees beforehand. Furthermore, a manager that doesn't show an ounce of sympathy for a student who is trying to work and study at the same time is also an immediate red flag. We understand that not everyone can quit their job at the drop of a hat, but we agree with folks in the comments section who are suggesting that the Redditor needs to find another alternative as soon as he can.
