Places that have a lot of lumber tend to also have a lot of vermin. Additionally, gardens tend to attract pest as well. That's why you see farms with barn cats and places like lumber yards who have cats running around. They are working cats that help hunt the pesky vermin.
Home Depot has both lumber and a garden section, so you can imagine that many of those stores might struggle with a vermin problem. Though it is probably unlikely that many Home Depots have cats, this one in California does—but it wasn't because of what you think. The black cat that they have named Shadow actually choose the Home Depot as her home. The shoppers and employees fell in love with her so much, that they welcomed her into the Home Depot as her forever home.

A shopper only recently met Shadow in Home Depot and asked the employees about her. The employee said that Shadow has lived there for years, hunting vermin and getting all kinds of pets and treats from the employees and shoppers. She even recently had kittens and the Home Depot held an adoption even which they were able to find furever homes for all her babies. The local Human Society makes sure she's fed well and attends regular vet visit and they even spayed her after her litter was born.

Apparently, Shadow has grown a fanbase and become quite the local animal celebrity—she even has her own Instagram page dedicated to her adorableness. It's unconfirmed if she actually hunts the vermin in the Home Depot that might be scurrying around, but it seems that she is definitely the only animal that runs the joint. We wouldn't be surprised if she gets promoted to meownager soon!
