Sometimes something very subtle yet strategic can be very effective. Like, saying something with a slightly different tone that just sounds every so slightly inappropriate. Or handing something to someone that just seems slightly off, like handing a tissue to someone, but it's draped over your hand instead of just handing it to them. It's just enough that you probably won't say anything, but you'll definitely pause for a second to think "huh… that was weird."
Well, this is the route one annoyed boyfriend took when a neighbor started hitting on his girlfriend. He writes on Reddit that they live about a garage where they get their car fixed and they are very friendly with the owner. The have him work on their car when needed and he'll even get their mail and packages when they're out. The guy has always been a little extra friendly to the girlfriend, but nothing the couple seemed too worried about. Until the guy texted her something inappropriate. First of all, they do not text. They only text on a working level, like when the car needs fixed or something to do with the apartment. So it was already weird that he was randomly texting her, and then for it to be a overtly flirty text really had the couple upset. The girlfriend wasn't sure what to do, so the boyfriend asked if he could take the reins on this one and she happily agreed.
Instead of doing that whole cancelled "alpha male" thing and going down there to start a fight with the guy, he did something else, something much stranger. He simply went into the fridge, grabbed a juicy looking apple, and placed it in a plastic ziplock bag. Then he went down to the garage, busted in like he owned the place and b-lined for the guy that texted his girlfriend. It was already alarming because he doesn't usually walk in so familiarly like that and he usually only goes for working reasons. But this time he just approached the man, said he never thanks him enough for being a good neighbor, handed him the bagged apple as a gift, and menacingly said goodbye and walked off. The guy was so weirded out, like why is this apple in a bag? Why did he keep saying the apple was clean? Why did he look so happy? Why did he even come down here? So many things.
The guy seemed to be creeped out enough that the boyfriend felt satisfied that he would never flirt with his girlfriend again. Read the entire story and some responses below!
