To balance the teeter totter of relationships is a buttress of work. A fugue state of feelings, emotions, words, from the physical to the divine, the essence of our lives. In an orchestra of love, the percussion would be your childhood and past relationships, the things that made you who you are. The brass would be your partner, a quintessential aspect of the piece, an underlying value for the relationship. The woodwinds would be your communication, your explicit, overt, words you say to each other and direct gestures. And the strings would be all the tacit, implicit things that go on between you and in your head, that you can't quite tangibly point out.
Given this metaphor, there will be times when one section plays louder than another, and this is all part of the healthy balance, ebb and flow of your relationship and life together. Sometimes the communication isn't working, sometimes you feel like your past is coming back to haunt you, and sometimes you feel like the orchestra of your love is right where it should be, with each section playing equally and lovingly.
