Don't you just love it when shady bosses put their threats and bully tactics in writing? In u/Jeonkise5's case, after their potential new employer did a bait-and-switch on them and tried to lure them into a job they didn't apply for, OP had experienced too many red flags for one day and decided to opt out of the job entirely. Instead of being a normal, halfway decent human, the shady "CEO" bullied and belittled OP via text, and even threaten not to pay them for the hours they'd already worked, claiming that it "wasn't work." “In all fairness the CEO is the Great Cornholio, things are different in Lake Titicaca.” said u/XR171.
“Little weird isn't it? I have a feeling this is one these guys that calls himself a CEO, and has 3 people working for him.” said u/oboshoe.
“And then brags about it on LinkedIn.” said u/buttertrainishere.
“Do you have the $23/hr agreement in text? If so, don't settle for minimum wage. If they put you to work right away, you were on the clock from the moment the interview ended and are owed whatever they agreed to pay you from that time until you left. And when they say, 'Do you think that's work?' feel free to respond with, ‘The question is not what you or I think is work, but what the Department of Labor thinks is work. You can debate the issue with them. See how that goes.’” said u/Robot_Basilisk.
“I just wanted to make things easier on him. It seemed like a good idea at first. I just never imagined he was such an asshole” said OP.
“After checking his revenue which is >5M$ and him bragging about his travel points on Amex and how he pays 5 figs bill every months, he did Venmo me 62$ at 15.50/h for 4 hours. Also called it ‘a waste of time.’” said OP.
