If this isn't a sign to start looking for work elsewhere, I don't know what is. This thread was posted to Reddit's r/TalesFromYourServer subreddit by u/420wasabisnappin, a server who made an innocent mistake on the job by ordering a $175 bottle of wine as opposed to the $100 bottle that was requested.
Now, their toxic manager wants the Redditor to pay the difference, which is about as red as a red flag can get. OP wanted to know if this was even legal, and the answer is that while it likely isn't, it's quite possible that they are going to find another excuse to fire OP next week. So if OP isn't already on the hunt for a new job, he might as well start looking now. Of course, we are on their side, especially considering that mistakes on the job should be expected. If a manager can't budget for that, then they shouldn't be a manager.
