A lot of us, when we go to a shelter to adopt a cat, have an idea in our minds of what that cat is going to be. A kitten, an adult cat, a bonded pair perhaps. But when it comes to cat adoption, things rarely turn out the way you expect them to. And that's because the premise is wrong. It's not 'when we go to a shelter to adopt a cat', it's 'when we go to a shelter to get adopted by a cat', because it's cats who choose their humans, not the other way around.
We have read so many stories at this point of people going into shelters wanting to adopt kittens and coming out with adorable 'impurrfect' cats instead. And those 'impurrfect' cat adoption stories always hit us so much harder than any other ones. Because we know those people are meant to be with those cats - we know they were chosen, and we know they'll live the happiest lives together.

It really is that simple. Sometimes, you come in wanting one kind of cat, and one look at that other cat that - for some reason - no one seems to want, and your heart is taken. You adopt the little guys knowing that it is the purrfect cat for you and you are the purrfect human for them.
We wish you guys and all of the people in this thread many, many happy and healthy years with your newly adopted kitties. Just because they may be 'impurrfect' in other people's eyes doesn't mean that you won't have the most purrfect relationship with them until the end of their days.
