They say that the friends that you make in your 20's are either the biggest flakes or they're simply unbreakable. You make the best friends of your life, while making the worst mistakes. Over the last 14 years, one man has realized that the best friend he ever made in his 20's is a senior cat named Tegan whom he rescued when he was only 1 month old.

When you adopt a kitten, there are a lot of responsibilities that you learn as you go. For example, you learn prety quickly that the adorable, wide-eyed fluff ball that you brought into your house is actually a demon between the hours of 3am-4am. Your sleep no longer matters and that spitfire kitten comes to live with a 'claw-first, ask questions later' mentality. If a 21 year old with a binge-weekend hangover can survive the kitten phase, you can survive anything. No doubt, Tegan's owner went through a similar debacle, but then Tegan also allowed Nick to have a dutiful girl-magnet living in his house rent-free.

Like any long-term friendship, they had their ups and downs (mostly ups), but as your bestie becomes a senior cat, you start to think back on all the good times. Nick created a wholesome and pawdorable throwback video for Tegan on his 14th birthday as a bit of a ‘thank you’ for all the good times. In this rewind, you see the two of them grow together in every way.

As it seems, Tegan clearly always loved to cuddle. Nick and his boy Tegan have spent much of their time together chilling and happy. Tegan is clearly cozy and in his lane, thriving in the arms of his big hooman bestie.

As we dip back into Nick's 20's, even Tegan starts to look a little different. The youthful glow between them shows that they're both potentially figuring life out as they go. The one thing they know for sure is that they'll go wherever they go next… together.

The moment Tegan's kitten pics pop up, everyone's crying. Frankly, these two best friends both look like babies in their final picture, making you think about how your pets age with you, joining you in a chapter of your life and defining it in a way. The 'Tegan years' for Nick will always be a happy and wonderful time, because he knows he did life with his feline friend.
