There are a lot of things that I would like to teach myself to do. These include being able to get up right after my alarm rings, or writing a paragraph without putting approximately 1 billion commas in it.
On this list of dream abilities, I would like to add the skill of sewing. The older I get, the more I value these kinds of self-sufficient practices that can help to reduce waste, and ignite creativity. While I've never been able to master more than a running stitch, there are plenty of people in the world who are wizards with the needle and thread (or they are training themselves up to be).
This is why there are a fair few memes about the sewing process, celebrating its achievements and commiserating when it goes wrong. Like all hobbies, it isn't always plain sailing. At least we have humor to turn to when that happens to be the case.
