Ultimately, most people who are looking for a relationship have pretty low standards. They want someone who makes them feel good, and so long as they're not a jerk, they want to make that other person feel good as well. From hair color to earning power, all the other barriers we put in place are as much a protective social construct as they are a personal ideal.
There is nothing wrong with having preferences, of course. However, making these the problem of individuals who don't meet those preferences is a cruel and unnecessary thing to do. Also, this barely scrapes the surface of the cringeworthy things many dating app users do on their quest for love. We all make mistakes, but there is a fine line between an honest blunder and a-hole. Too many people cross that line with frequency in the wild west of online dating. There has to be a better way.
