'I [wasn't] trying to hard launch my pregnancy': Estranged daughter attends a family wedding, surprising everyone with her 7-months-pregnant belly

Family events can be overwhelming. For some reason, when the whole fam gets together for someone's wedding, the feral questioning, loss of decorum, and emotional intensity would rival Guantanamo Bay– especially if you're pregnant. Recently, one woman underwent every woman's nightmare, attending her dad's second wedding after having been estranged from the family for nearly a decade. Nobody had heard from her for years, she avoided family reunions and built her own life far away in another city. However, to everyone's surprise at the wedding, she rolled up 7 months preggers.

This is Jessie, a 20-something year old woman who had to be tough as nails, or maybe a little hormone-hazed, to consider going to a family event without any armor on. Vulnerable, big-bellied, and ready for the attack, Jessie decided to say ‘screw it’ and flew out for her dad's big day. 

Although there was a large physical distance between Jessie and her family, she had several family members who were pushy and rumor-starters, driving a wedge quickly between Jessie's old life and her new. After she was engaged, her aunt spilled the beans to everyone without consent and things spiraled from there. With no apology in the wings, she started to simply blow off family events to avoid blowback or judgement. 

Fast-forward 7 years and Jessie received an invitation to her dad's wedding. She hadn't seen or talked to him for almost a year and was surprised by the invite. Nevertheless, Jessie wasn't about to miss such a big day for her old man, so she decided to throw her beef out the window to try and make an appearance. 

Using her sister as a buffer, Jessie threw on her stretchiest waistband and hopped in the car for a trillion hours in traffic, driving towards the doomsday event that could make or break her relationship with her family. 

After the wedding, Jessie created a video update on how things went. Apparently out of the 20-25 family members who were attending, Jessie was more or less ignored and her sister was her anchor. They were saying she went to “hard launch” her pregnancy and “take over the day”. Apparently the gossiping was exactly how Jessie imagined it would be. TOXIC.

Fortunately she doesn't have issues with her dad or his new wife, but apparently the rest of the family was happy to isolate them. She got some clarity on the drama with her family members. Moving forward, Jessie is left with a bit of wisdom that she's sticking to: “if you're going to treat me like this pregnant, then you're not gonna meet my kid”.
