It pays not to be a jerk—well, being a jerk can also pay because the annoying ethical limitations of kind and empathetic folk won't bother you, leaving you to do whatever, whenever, and wherever you want. Still, we'd like to think that all of that bad karma will come back to bite you eventually and that one day you'll receive your just deserts.
That may be what happened to this apartment manager, who decided to be unbearably rude to someone who was applying for an apartment. Whatever it was, the cut of his jib or the color of his coat, the manager immediately took a disliking to the applicant. Unbeknownst to the manager, this would be his undoing, as he had just crossed the wrong guy. See, the applicant had the money to buy the apartment complex outright; he went away, still steaming about the interaction, and began to do some assessments. This led him to realize that buying the apartments outright wouldn't be a bad investment. So he did and fired the manager on the spot. Talk about some serious f-you money.
