This guy's boss really entered his villain era, didn't he? Not only is he constantly expecting his employees to put work before their families, but he is even bragging about the time that he fired one of his employees for having to miss work due to his child's emergency. This is not just typical bad boss behavior. This dude saw that and raised it to the infinite power.
This thread was posted to Reddit by u/AccomplishedBig7666, who thankfully no longer works at the company. However, it seems that this boss did not catch on to the fact that people were leaving as a result of his ridiculous behavior. In fact, he kept on leaning into the parody version of himself up until OP's very last week at the company, which also happened to coincide with the CEO's birthday.
So here's what happened. After all the heartless, self-absorbed comments he made, this CEO had the audacity to demand that all of his employees contribute $18 to his birthday festivities. I'm sorry, that kind of thing should only apply to people at the bottom of the company. No employee should have to help pay for their CEO to have the birthday bash of their dreams. If this isn't rich people nonsense, I don't know what is. This man should take a trip to a White Lotus resort somewhere and never come back.
