If you've ever been personally victimized by a create-your-own-slime kit, raise your hand. For the parents of an aspiring scientist, raising a child who loves chemical reactions, concocting, and creating their own shampoo solutions in the shower is a challenging and messy task. You obviously want to cultivate their love for chemistry, without risking the integrity of their eyebrows and the ridges of their fingerprints, but you also don't really want to test how far you're willing to push your kitchen countertop's stain resistance and durability. Welp, science didn't progress because chemists were playing it safe, Mom!
For those of us who survived a chemically induced childhood, now we have the adult solutions to tackle and even more corrosive chemicals to play with. So for people who go by 'Doctor' and play with glasses full of toxins, now we're considered chemistry geniuses instead of nerdy science fair kids. Look how far we've come.
