Font - My manager demanded I go home to change outfit. Is shocked when I come back with 2 week notice My (M31) job had just started 6 months before the pandemic. Once covid hit we were all working from home which for me was a new (sometime challenging) but exciting experience. I used to get up at 5am and travel an hour and a half in order to get into work on time.

Font - I wouldn't get home till 7pm so working from home made a major difference to how much time I had to spend with my family. This went on for 2 years until my job demanded we all come back into the office, which sucked. During this time my old manger was very lenient and allowed us to keep working from home a couple days a week. This all changed when she was demoted and new manager wouldn't allow anyone to work from home, unless of course we caught covid. Which I sadly did.

Font - 2 years of never catching it and it was all ruined in just 6 weeks when they called us back. Now on to the story. My new manager was a bossy angry harass of a woman and demanded things that just didn't feel right. She sent multiple people home because of some of the things they wore (this was a call centre job and the dress code was essentially no football tops or revealing clothing which was fine). The manager took this a step further and sent anyone wearing what she didn't like home. Th

Font - I explained that unlike most of the people working there I stay a gd while away and it would take 3 hours to get there and back. She didnt care. I offered, couldn't i just stay till the end of the day then change for next day? Rejected. Couldn't just go home and work from home this one day? Rejected. Oh and I should mention that she said I would have to work those hours back as well.

Font - I was forced to leave work and spent the 3 hours on the bus being fuming. Luckily I had stuff to do on the bus and began rage applying out of sheer spite. Surprisingly I got a ping for a job when I can work from home permanently and was able to set up an interview.

Font - On my way back from the office I stopped by a local shop and bought and envelope and paper and wrote a quick 2 weeks notice. When I got back into the office I calmly walked up to managers desk, advised her that what she just made me do was very upsetting and handed my 2 weeks notice. Look was priceless but only lasted a second before she pulled me into a meeting with 2 other managers.

Font - It was here they are suddenly all apologetic and trying to get me to stay. Even offered to let me work from home again. I polity declined as this was too little too late. (Reason why they wanted dme to stay so badly is if enough colleagues quite before and certain date, the mangers lose their bonus).

Font - Needless to say i turned down their offers and they got rid of me after just 1 week because I didn't comply with every little thing. I'm now at my new job for 6 months now. Love working from home. And they gave me my own laptop ain't order to work from home. Thanks for listening.

Font - Its_ok_to_lie 1 day ago Hey this happened to me at my fast food job. I told the manager to actually instruct me to come back otherwise I wouldn't come back. Don't think she got the hint and seemed surprised when I, in fact, did not come back 390 Reply Share

Font - slide_into_my_BM. 20 hr. ago I'll never understand why so many businesses are doubling down on all the money they spend on commercial real estate by making people come back to the office. Let people work from home and downsize your office space like crazy.

Font - My buddy is taking over his dads company and his first major move as incoming boss was to down size their office. People rotate coming in 2 days a week so 2 people share a desk. Once a month they I have an all company meeting on a Friday. It's a good balance and his employees love it. Also saves him a ton on office expenses. 130 Reply Share

Font - hauntedmeal 1 day ago Shoot me a message with where you work from home, if you wouldn't mind. I'm losing my mind. And truly, good on you for leaving. That was a shifty power move for that woman to pull and it yielded her nothing. We love to see it.
