When I was a kid, I regularly attended a compelling bird experience at my local Zoo. You could pay $5 to get a couple of sticks that had bird food stuck to them. From there, you entered a giant birdcage filled with trees, flowers, and branches. Inside this cage lived a bunch of colorful birds. You were able to get up close and personal with these animals and offer them your sticks of feed. Oh, what happy memories!
In hindsight, there are a couple of things that seem wrong about this arrangement. I don't remember if there was anyone watching us to make sure that we didn't feed the bird's Dippin Dots, but I'm fairly certain we could've gotten away with that. I don't want to question a zoo's authority, but I can't imagine eating birdseed all day from sticky children was the best life those animals could've lived. If you would have loved to hang inside a bird enclosure for 15-20 minutes as a child without contemplating the potential harm that would cause those animals, as I did, then these bird memes will fly straight into your heart.
