Often your employer will regard themself as in a position of power, holding all the proverbial cards in the relationship… and it might take you leaving to convince them otherwise. Only after you're gone will they realize just how important you were to the business—to the tune of a downturn in production, profitability, falling KPI metrics, and the loss of clients who walked out the door shortly after you did.
This worker was immediately missed by their ex-employer (in more ways than one) when they suddenly quit their job without notice—leaving for "a better work environment, better commute, and better pay." After dealing with dissolving promises and cuts to their pay, they elected not to do their ex-employer the service of giving them notice after previously witnessing the ex-employer firing "several" people on the spot for handing in their notice.
After leaving, they ran into an old coworker who told them that their departure had a significant impact on the company's bottom line, to the point where their financial loss was making waves in the sector.
