25 First Date Memes That Are Way More Fun Than the Actual Date

I've recently ventured back onto the dating apps. Swiping through profiles is, admittedly, the most entertaining part. Though it does raise some questions about the male psyche. The sheer number of men showcasing videos of their golf swing is alarming, as if this is a universally recognized turn-on. And then they all have some variation of the same prompt, declaring "I like a woman who yaps." Is this some kind of pre-approved script? Maybe it's just the midwest town I'm from.

Once you actually match with someone, the work begins. You have to talk to them. I prefer in-person conversation, but instead, there's the purgatory of awkward texting, where every sentence feels high-stakes for no reason. How are they supposed to know I'm witty and sarcastic, not simply r*de? Is the answer to use more emojis? Overzealous exclamation points? The whole exercise is exhausting.

If you manage to survive this phase, you’re rewarded with the logistical nightmare of planning a first date. Where? When? Who’s picking the place? At this point, I’ve already lost interest.
So, instead of figuring out how to make small talk with yet another man who owns three fishing photos, I’ll be here scrolling through these first-date memes. At least these don’t leave you on read.
