"All the king's horses and all the king's men will never put Barbie back in her box again."
Let's start right off with saying, surprisingly, there are NO spoilers here—unless you consider someone's passionate personal opinion a spoiler.
The second Barbie announced its production, it has gotten a tidal wave of attention. From memes to serious cinematic conversations, it's been in the headlines for months. Now, since its release into theaters, it has exceeded expectations. Everyone went to see the movie full expecting a feel-good story bursting with optimism and comedy. No one knew they'd come out with a full understanding of the patriarchy and how heavy it lays on the shoulders of not only women, but the entire human race… It's considered to be so profound, that social media is using it as the “boyfriend” test and calling it a “woke-awakening” for men into feminism.
One father saw it and was so taken by it, he couldn't help but send his review of the film to the family chat and boy is it eloquent.
The dad says that Barbie was so life changing for cinema that film scholars will now refer to AB and BB—"After Barbie" and “Before Barbie.” He starts of the lengthy text saying that Barbie is the best superhero film of all time. He writes that she's, “more powerful than Superman, Barman, Spider-Man, etc.” And that her super power is that she, “uses her EQ, thoughts, senses, feelings, intellect, courage, confidence, and love.” This dad is so passionate about how he feels about this film that he has already committed to going to see it again—which apparently is not something he has done since Star Wars. He even adds that Barbie has surpassed his thoughts of The Godfather. He writes, “Barbie takes on the patriarchy with surgical precision.”
Honestly, this dad needs to be hired to write film reviews because this is absolutely poetic! Read the entire text below.
It's no surprise that the text, shared in a TikTok video by his son, has gone absolutely viral. It's not just Barbie fans excited about the glowing review, but people who were on the fence of even seeing it are now convinced simply by the fiery words of this new Barbie super fan. Many want to claim this dad as their own and one commenter even asks, “Have you told your dad he has thousands of new kids yet?”
