'I couldn't hold back sobs': Female moviegoers react to the 'Barbie' movie, sharing unfiltered feelings and heartfelt moments that moved us all
Okay, if you haven't seen the Barbie movie yet, get up right now and go buy a ticket. For those of you who have been living under a rock for the last 6 months, somehow evading $150M of aggressively pink advertising, the Barbie movie is the first ever live action film about a real life Barbie and her adventures (and semi-dark realizations) as she galavants through the real world as a real woman. The movie itself is simultaneously an homage to girly childhoods, a coming of age story, and a huge statement against the patriarchy and has been shaking the movie theaters and exploding even more than the atomic release, Oppenheimer.
Women all over the country, and all over the world, have been purchasing tickets with their girlfriends and walking into theaters with happy-go-lucky hearts, only to get their world's shaken by harsh reality, witty humor, and a rejuvenated sense of sisterhood with our fellow ladies. Regardless of your gender, we can all appreciate the smart writing, incredible costume design, and Ryan Gosling's abs in this movie, but what do other real life women think? Scroll to read up on the unfiltered reactions to the Barbie movie and enjoy the musings of community, Lizzo, and the color pink.
