Movie fans can be absolutely savage in their reviews. Part of the joy of sites like Letterboxd is that we no longer have to rely on pretentious write-ups in pretentious publications in order to get a sense of whether or not a movie is worth checking out. In theory, that sense of elitism is gone with the democratization of accessible Letterboxd reviews from plebeians like us. However, in case you have never come across them in your life, you should probably know that film lovers can be pretentious too, yet they can also be hilarious.
