Star Trek is one of those shows that never sacrifices storytelling, even when it comes to continuity. But that is only one of the many reasons that I fell in love with this show. I cannot express in words how much this show means to me, and to countless others. Non-Trekkies often ask, 'What's so special about it?'. How has it managed to capture millions of hearts, and the loyalty of so many fans? It's a fair question, one that I can attempt to answer.
It has tackled ideological and philosophical issues since the beginning. After watching Star Trek, I personally feel like I have explored the human condition. The characters are absolutely priceless. The writing is supreme, even if it is a bit cheesy sometimes. Data, Picard, Garek, Bashir, Chekov, Spock… I love them all. In addition, this show makes you think about what the future could look like. It gives a feeling of hope.
