Invisible disabilities, entitled people, and public transportation DO NOT MIX. Unless a disabled person is visibly crippled or maimed in some way, some folks simply don't believe that they're actually in need of special treatment. And nobody knows how to cause a scene over special treatment quite like a gaggle of Karens. In this story, a pair of rogue Karens were insanely insensitive to two people that everyone should show respect to in public: elderly and disabled people.
Literally the first thing you learn in the rules of politeness when you're a youngster is that you should be cool to old ladies and people who have a tougher life than you, but in this case, these Karens apparently never learned their manners. A disabled girl in her late 20's was taking a Greyhound bus a long distance to visit family, so she booked a seat for herself knowing that her seizures were less likely to occur if she was seated and relaxed. The girl wore a lanyard that claimed she was disabled, had her seizure cat with her, and tried to do her best to ensure a smooth ride. Everything changed when the two Karens spotted her sitting in 'their' seat.
With the bus overbooked and many forced to ride without a seat, the ultimate stand off took place between some skeptical Karens and the disabled girl. Scroll to read on about the full encounter, which ends in a triumphant victory for the disabled passenger and a walk of shame for the Karens. The manners police are definitely going to send Karma their way. Next, read about this summer camp student who lived our her main character moment, while her inner rebellion took hold after a teacher wrongly accused her of being tardy.
