I won't fault anyone who has never been to a Waffle House for not knowing the vibe. I have been to Waffle House several times, so let me illuminate those of you who are not in the know. It is a chain diner restaurant that is highly concentrated in the Southern United States. Waffle House is nothing like other popular breakfast establishments such as IHOP or Denny's. The menu options are limited, and the service is even more limited. You don't go to Waffle House to have someone fill up your coffee cup every ten minutes. If we're looking at a spectrum of service quality at cheap places, Chick-fil-A is on one side of the spectrum, and Waffle House is at the exact opposite end. The primary reputation of Waffle House is that the employees get into fights a lot, so you can't expect much from them. A couple of Northern girls learned this the hard way when they asked their Waffle House server for "milk alternatives."
