There's something special about being awake before anyone else. It feels like you've hacked life; you've found a way to make the day longer and get more done, even though the only thing you are doing is finding a new way to become sleep-deprived. I'm all for waking up hours before the sun rises to get something incredibly urgent done, but I have yet to become one of those divas who can wake up early just to go to the gym or to meditate. I have to feel like I won't get through the day if I don't get up early, but if I plan on getting up at 5 AM for a menial task, just forget about it. If you're up early to get more of your waking hours back from your job, I respect you. Why not spend a small sliver of this time reading some compelling memes?
