Laughing in your manager's face when they're trying to find a reasonable way to deal with your antics is probably not the best way to behave in front of them. That being said, when your manager is an absolutely ridiculous person, it's not exactly your fault how you respond to them. Self-control is ideal, but it's not easy when you're in the presence of nonsense.
This thread was shared to Reddit's r/TalesFromYourServer subreddit by u/blscratch, a former server who was attempting to advocate on their customer's behalf. Essentially, one customer ordered a breakfast combo but asked to have it without hash browns, while his friend ordered something else but asked for an additional side of hash browns. OP thought it would be convenient, cheaper, etc. to get the first customer's order but put the hash browns on the side so that his friend could have it. That way, it's all easier for the kitchen, and it's a win-win situation. Of course, the server's manager took issue with this and threw a fit in the kitchen. When OP tried to defend their intentions, the manager took a moment to collect herself and started counting to ten. Clearly, this was some kind of anger management ritual, but we can all imagine how seeing this "counting" practice come out of nowhere would be funny. So OP could not control himself and then paid the price. All because of a hash browns order!
