For whatever reason, there's something about wedding culture that gives engaged folks the false notion that they can get away with insane demands. First, there's the complete lack of care for how much money people have to spend just to attend from flights to hotels to wedding gifts. Then, if you're family or if you're in the wedding party, there's money for bachelor/bachelorette parties, dresses/suits, and more flights/hotels. Sure, being involved is an honor, but it's also quite the ask.
This thread was posted to Reddit's r/EntitledPeople subreddit by u/cakeanddiamond, who opened up about her falling out with her sister. OP's sister, the bridezilla of this tale, decided to have a destination wedding despite the fact that neither she nor her husband lived in or were from said destination (otherwise, obviously, it would be more understandable). OP and her husband just began new jobs and were saving up for a house, and they were unable to spend over $3K on this wedding. That's when OP's sister graciously offered to help until wedding planning went underway and she ended up rescinding the offer. Now, the bride is telling OP that she needs to suddenly figure out a way to go on her own dime. Talk about an unhinged turn of events. Getting married simply does not make the entire universe revolve around you, honey!
