You can't expect everyone around you to do things your way! Look, there are many compromises people need to make as roommates. All parties need to agree to certain rules, like tidying up in shared spaces, doing your dishes, etc. These are all necessary conversations roommates need to have in order to coexist peacefully. Of course, roommates also need to acknowledge and recognize that people have different ways of doing things, and not everyone is going to align on everything all the time. You would think this would be an obvious statement to make, but clearly, there are some roommates out there who are so demanding that they need to be reminded of this fact.
This thread was posted to Reddit's r/AmITheA**hole subreddit by u/OpeningOrchid4141, who had to confront his roommate about not wanting to become vegan. His roommate, Sarah, kept on insisting that her four cohabitants watch documentaries about veganism in order to essentially convert them. They had no interest and no one knew how to tell her. Sure, when their living situation began, they were asked to respect her veganism by giving her the top shelf of the refrigerator and not using her kitchenware so as to avoid cross-contamination. All of this is understandable, but then it started to get out of hand very quickly. Sarah, we respect your choices, but it's time you recognize that your roommates have made their choices and you need to respect that.
