One of the first things we like to teach our domesticated pets is their name. That way, when you call to them, they know you are referring to them. Whether they understand the concept of what a name is, is debatable, but they understand that when you say those particular sounds with your mouth, it means you are referring to them. This is something we do with all domesticated pets, especially cats and dogs. Cats can be silly when it comes to names, however, because they don't like to be bossed around. So maybe they know that you like to call them “Fluffy," but they only come when they hear the food can opening. This seems to be somewhat of the situation a cat named Simon is in. His mother, who goes by @girlkeaton online, calls out to him often, and yet he doesn't seem to answer. Do you know how she gets him to come home? She sings the “Hamster Dance” song. Do you remember that song? Back when YouTube was top entertainment. It's literally just jibberish set to hamsters dancing. It's honestly a bop, so no questions about that. But Simon doesn't seem to answer to anything else. She says this all started because she jokingly recorder herself singing it as the “dinner bell” on his automatic feeder. So now every time he hears it, he equates it to food. But for us in the audience, it just looks like a cat who really loves the “Hamster Dance” song. Watch Simon in all his glory below!
