‘This is beautiful:’ People in love share their underrated ‘healthy relationship moment’ of when they realized their partner truly cared

The other day I asked my mom how she knew my dad was "the one." They have been together 30+ years and still act like teenagers in love. It's refreshing, but also almost feels delusional, because it's not something you see often. Growing up I always imagined it like a Disney's "love at first sight" kind of thing. However, she confessed to me it wasn't until well after they got married that she was 100% sure. Sure, the big declarations of love are romantic, but sustaining a healthy relationship takes more than just passion (though that is an important part). My mom confessed to me that it wasn't until they had already been together 20+ years that she was finally 100% sure that my dad was her "soulmate." What was the moment? It wasn't just one, but it was all the little things he did and said after her father passed. It turns out, when it comes down to it, it is the little things that are down during the big moments that are the most important. Sometimes it doesn't even take any words.
