not a well liked person from the getgo. She's the type of person would tell the boss if someone came in 15 minutes late and think she was doing something good. So she start trying to take my work, work I've been doing for years before she got there. We

have the same boss. I say in an email chain that's she's included the boss on "you're not taking my work. I've been doing this for years." She replies with "Let's just see what Daryl says" Daryl was our boss, he was nearing retirement, was a nice guy with no backbone whose she kissed from the getgo.

Sure enough she's convinced him to let her take some of the stuff I do. Screw her. She keeps doing it too and slowly starts taking over more of the stuff I do. Eventually I _ : in 2016) I off (this was

I end up at a firm and I hear she's been laid off a few months later. At the firm I'm at we're hiring and the HR person comes in my office and says "hey, someone from your old firm, Caroline, applied for the job. What do you say about that."

I tell them if they even consider hiring her I'll quit. So no job for her. This job ended up not working out and I went to a bigger firm which I'm still at today. Sure enough, after about a year, the HR person comes into my office

and says "we got a resume from someone from your old job, Caroline, is she good?" I tell her she's awful. Absolutely terrible. So now she's trying to talk me into it. "Can't we train her?"

Again, I say "if you hire her, I'll quit the next minute. I will not work with her." 2 jobs this did not get.

slackerassftw. 17 hr. ago Major positive of the "hire them and I will quit" move is that you will definitely find out how much they value you as an employee. 151 Reply Share MyGoodFriend 96 OP 16 hr. ago I would definitely only say that if I knew I was valued (which I was/am at both jobs)

JoWhee 17 hr. ago While I'd never say "she's awful “ due to liability. I like the "if you hire her, I'll quit". No liability, but it sends a crystal clear message. Also screw Caroline

MyGoodFriend 96 OP 16 hr. ago At the second job they were pushing me on her - I was shocked "can't we train her?" Then I said if you hire her I will be gone and that was that.

My story briefly touches on a little of her interaction with me but this lady was a cancer and pulled similar with other people at the original job. She was extremely disliked and I'm sure this has happened with her at other jobs where people ended up and they asked about her there too.

HMS_Slartibartfast 11 hr. ago More useful than "Hire her and I'll quit" is "Let me call <former employer>'s legal department and make sure there is no pending litigation regarding her I am have to testify in". Avoids the problem if someone above you likes her. Also sends a message to HR that they really really really don't want to be involved.

No Fuel 7904 . 4 hr. ago Man, dealing with someone like Caroline must've been a real headache. Props to you for holding your ground, though. It's never easy when someone's trying to swipe your work. And now, twice in the job-hunt game? That's wild. If HR's knocking on your door again, just shoot straight about your experience with her. No point in sugarcoating, right? Here's hoping your current gig is treating you better, we all deserve a drama-free zone at work!
