This happened around 2010. I was cycling around Harringay, Green Lanes where I lived at the time. The area is gentrified now but at the time it was considered to be a bit rough by London standards. Those familiar with the area know that there are narrow alleyways that connect up all the side roads, off of Green Lanes.

So as I'm cycling, I pass one of these alleyways and see a group of rowdy kids messing around inside the alley. There are four of them, aged maybe 11-12 and they are making alot of noise, as kids do. As I cycle past, they go all quiet. I turn my head and catch one of them throwing a stone at me,

which bounces off my back. This is followed by an explosion of laughter and jeering. Now, I remember being a kid, and the lengths that kids go to to entertain their friends. To be honest, I wasn't even that mad. But in that moment I decide to make this a teachable moment for the little I, and to make sure that he will never forget me.

So I pretend to lose my mind. I toss my bike to the road, turn and sprint at them full-speed, to quickly cover the 10-15 meters between us. At the same time, I scream in a pretend rage and wind my arm back, like I'm about to deliver a WWE haymaker and end a young life or two. They

barely have time to register what's going on. Three of them scatter like cockroaches, but the one who threw the stone freezes in his tracks. He kind of just collapses against a wall with his arms outstreched, babbling and begging for mercy. I put my face

right next to his and whisper "I'm only joking kid". The kid blinks for a second, and then promptly starts to wail loudly, like he's carrying the burden of the world on his little shoulders. I walked away feeling like I had done the world a small service.

2FatC 18 hr. ago You definitely did the cycling world a huge service. Totally justified. Hope the wretched little p ssed himself. And because I'm not a hypocrite, I'm guilty of participating in making a giant snowball (in the 3rd grade) that we rolled down a hill onto a road at recess. Oh my lord, did the recess lady rip us a new one! "You could have caused a wreck and hurt someone blah blah blah I'm telling your parents."

Ok, true, but third graders don't have very good patience or aim. We missed by 10 feet or more. I knew I was in for a major scolding when mom used my full name when I arrived home from school... "Mary-Martha Snowblower, I received a call from Principal Henry...".

And in my house, it was double whammy because when dad gets home...so two lectures and no dessert ended my brief reign as a prankster.

Eolond 14 hr. ago Hahaha reminds me of the time a kid in my neighborhood threw a rock at my car! I'm driving through my neighborhood and some little on the corner throws a rock at my car. I slammed on my breaks, threw it in reverse, and backed up real quick. Little guy went tearin back into his house like his was on fire.

andrezay517 18 hr. ago That was actually me you terrorized and I deserved it. I was heading down a dark pathway in life and you scared me straight. Thank you for being the parent figure I was lacking in that moment. I'd surely be in prison if not for that fateful day. 3 Reply Share karnasaurus OP. 16 hr. ago Even though you're now in a grown body, you're still a little ...... I take it back - I wasn't joking ;)
