I am so curious whether Disney is going to keep doing these live-action remakes. They started making them consistently about ten years ago, and I feel like the well is drying up. If they start remaking movies that came out less than 15 years ago, like Tangled and Frozen, they're going to have nowhere else to go. If they start doing live-action remakes of stinkers like The Black Cauldron or The Sword in the Stone, I don't think that's going to work out particularly well for them, either.
The thing that frustrates me about these movies is that most of them don't need to exist. They mostly function to make 1 billion dollars and add some 2010s feminist platitudes to movies that don't particularly need them. Trying to fix old movies with half-baked political messages is not driving me to the box office. I would much rather dive into some Disney memes than watch live-action The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad.
