What would we ever do without receptionists? These people keep the world running by doing all the organization and planning that keeps businesses afloat.
CEOs and CFOs get the fancy titles and get to spend their time taking clients to glamorous lunches. They aren't the ones truly running the company, though. They may have the look of a person in power, but you know who's really in charge? The person who unlocks the doors each morning, keeps the office full of food and coffee, handles phone calls and client check-ins, and schedules meetings. That person is usually the receptionist, and without them, things wouldn't run nearly so smoothly.
Working at an office's front desk can be a high-pressure job, but the receptionists manage to make it look easy. The only time we really know how hard they work is when they have a day off, or when they're out of the office for a long while. That's pretty much what happened when u/deeba_'s boss gave them a menial task to do that took up hours.
