Disney was such a big part of my childhood, but probably not for the reasons you'd think. Me and my sister weren't constantly rewatching Disney movies or going to Disney parks, but we were in so many youth theater productions, that the Disney IP seemed to be constantly surrounding us. My sister played everything from the Genie in Aladdin Jr. to Captain Hook in Peter Pan Jr. My young self stunned as Cruella DeVil in 101 Dalmations KIDS and Timon in The Lion King Jr. We were young character actresses, and proud of it!
It's easy to criticize Disney for its monopoly and unethical business practices, but it's admirable that they've found a way to use their stories to bring theatre arts to children of all backgrounds around the USA and beyond. Sure, it's not being done out of the goodness in their hearts, and they're making boatloads of money for it, but my take still stands! If you're willing to give Disney it's flowers, these Disney memes might rub you the right way.
