Can you believe there are people out there who hate dogs for no reason? That's a huge immediate red flag imo. It's an even bigger red flag when someone doesn't respect a service dog. Like, think what you want about having a loyal furry four-legged companion who loves you unconditionally, but you have to at least show respect to working dogs. A service dog is literally considered a life-saving medical device. Like, you wouldn't ban someone from taking their prescription at work because you don't like pills? So why would you ban someone's prescribed service dog? Well, you can't anyways, because that's illegal. Companies cannot discriminate against people with service animals. Unfortunately, companies are constantly trying to pull some shady things, and one of them might just be avoiding allowing a service animal in the work place by using some bs fine print.
That is exactly what seems to be going down with this Reddit user. They use a service animal and the paperwork is already done allowing them to have their service animal in the office. However, as every living creature does, the service dog is getting old and reaching retirement age. So OP is training a younger new dog so they can switch their older service dog to just a beloved pet, and have this new younger dog taking over duties. This isn't an easy task and it takes a slow transition. So OP spoke with HR to make sure it was going to switch between bringing in her old service dog and her new service dog (one at a time) to make the training and transition process easier. HR wholeheartedly agreed. Until a coworker decided to make a straight up lie and management, who apparently doesn't like that there's a dog in the office, went with the lie and didn't even double check. OP was not having it.
