Hello again, it's roundup time! Below you can find a small selection of the silliest viral moments to have captivated the internet recently. On the docket this week are meme throwbacks, cringey celebrity encounters, and PR stunts about our technologically advanced future. Let's begin.

She Realized, Then Couldn't Stop Realizing

It's taken sixteen long years, but meme lovers and music fans have been granted an upgrade to the Miley Cyrus Staring meme that originated at the 2008 Grammys. The singer became the poster girl for every person who can't stop reminding you they have blue eyes when when this old red carpet picture resurfaced.

It seems like she was more than happy to offer an updated version at the 2024 edition of the awards ceremony, where she also won her first ever Grammys. While it's nice that the meme makers got something to get excited over, it can't be denied the OG has some extra je ne sais quoi.

Celebrity Interviewers Need to Touch Grass

As if being a famous person wasn't weird enough, the celebrities of today not only have to deal with becoming memes (see above) but also having people confront them about these memes. These days, press tours for every kind of new release increasingly come with a built-in ‘query celebrity about silly online trend’ feature and the publicity for Marvel's Madame Web has been no exception.

Titular star Dakota Johnson provided an awkward moment that was consequently picked apart by Twitter when an interviewer asked her to pick apart the copypasta meme that came from a line spoken in the trailer, chosen because of its clunky writing and delivery. Johnson expressed bafflement at the meme, leading some to ponder whether they should stop filtering all the media they consume through the absurd lens of internet culture. This probably isn't going to happen.

Ready Apple Player One

Apple's flagship virtual reality headset the Vision Pro was officially released in the US late last week, and it didn't take long for viral instances of it being used in the wild to capture the attention of the internet. First up there was the dude who seemed to be tempting fate by working on the headset in the middle of the NYC subway, much to the derision of many on social media. Then, there were also the people going to the gym, attending basketball games and even driving with their ungainly accessory. There's a high probability that these are all PR stunts, not that this is going to prevent further memes and reactions.

That is all the dirt that we're going to dig up for now. Rest assured that there is going to be plenty more where that came from in the near future. Until next time!
