Isn't it annoying when you get asked to do something that is NOT in your job title without anything in return? If it's not part of your role, and you're not really getting paid for it, then why do it?
I don't mean people shouldn't be innovative or try to move up in their line of work, but I am no stranger to employers taking advantage of their employees just to save money and time. Here, there's an incredibly devoted employer who was actually fine with taking on more responsibilities in his line of work, without additional pay or an official job title. That was until the new warehouse manager started blaming him for his mistakes and eventually told him not to do anything that wasn't within his job title. That resulted in other employees walking out of the warehouse since without him fixing the company's problems, people weren't getting paid for their work. Safe to say he didn't have to do much after that to get himself a proper raise and a better job title, so maybe it does pay off sometimes.
