A Token Gesture of Random Memes

I like giving gifts, but I find few things more awkward than exchanging presents with somebody you feel forced to cater to. Getting that person you've spoken to exactly once in the office Secret Santa is not an enjoyable experience, not least because it offers up a dilemma: do you go safe and generic, or risk it with a joke present? Even if you want to make an effort, how much can be done with a $20 limit?

We have no choice but to acknowledge that every meme is a gift. However, some are inevitably going to be more like a token Secret Santa from a dislikable coworker than a bespoke surprise crafted for you by the love of your life. It's all part of the fun, and it makes you appreciate the good ones even more. If many people are to be believed, it's the thought that counts more than anything.
