If you're a New Yorker with a dog, then you know the struggle of getting your fur baby some fun time. It's not easy having your four-legged friend stuck in a tiny apartment. Many dog parents in the big city dream of one day having a backyard where their canine friends can run freely whenever they want. Until then, they have to make do with lots of leashed walks and visits to the designated dog parks. Though there are mixed feelings about dog parks in the dog-owner community, there's no doubt it brings happiness to many dogs in the city. They get to be off-leash in a contained area and socialize with other dogs.

However, the struggle comes on days with bad weather. Your dog is now stuck in your tiny NYC apartment. So what do you do? That's where Boris & Horton comes to the rescue! This father-daughter-owned establishment is an indoor dog cafe where dog owners can bring their dogs to play—like a dog park—as well as enjoy a nice café atmosphere and a cup of coffee with a treat for themselves and their dog.

Unfortunately, the beloved cafe announced that due to financial circumstances, they were going to close the doors to both of their establishments (Manhattan and Brooklyn).

The news was a slap to the face of everyone in Boris & Horton's community and they were not going to let this go down without a fight. Quickly, patrons took to social media to gush about their beloved dog café and how it simply HAS to be saved. This outpour of love gave the owners Coppy Holzman (the father) and Logan Mikhly (daughter) hope, so they too started a new fight to keep their home-away-from-home for dogs going.

“The outpouring of love from our community has been beyond our wildest dreams," Mikhly, the co-owner/daughter of the father-daughter-owned cafe, exclusively tells Cheezburger. “We especially enjoyed hearing about everyone's connection to the cafe, from adopting their dog here to starting a business to meeting their spouse.”

After only a week of social media blitz, subscription box sales, and community help, they finally made their goal of $250,000. “We're pinching ourselves that the community rallied together to keep it going and we can't wait to see everyone in person again very soon,” Mikhly adds in an email to Cheezburger.

Earlier this month ICanHasCheezburger and Boris & Horton paired up to give the community a free Valentine's Day pet photoshoot with a professional photographer and, of course, all the amazing amenities Boris & Horton provides. The event was more than just a great time, but was a lovely gathering of the local dog-loving community. It was just one instance of the many free events the café has provided for its community.

Now that they have officially been rescued, Boris & Horton has big plans for the future. Though they will be closing their doors for a little bit, they intend to use that time to put the raised money to good use in renovations. When they come back, they will be more than well-prepared and fully intend on putting just as much love back into their community as their community has shown them during their trying time.
