One man dismantled his HOA after getting on the board and exacting some well-deserved payback after they gave him ridiculous fines.
Why even live in a neighborhood with an HOA? This person explained why he felt he had no choice, as the neighborhood he chose to buy a house in had the lowest HOA rates in the city, the fewest rules, and most importantly, the house was listed well within his budget. After a few weeks, OP began regretting his decision, because he was fined for two things… One, his lawn was not green enough (this was in February), and two, his trash cans were 'too close to his driveway'. Baffled, he turned to the HOA and asked what was going on. He was met by an angry old man with a stern face who told him to 'Be a better property owner' and that he deserved to get fined for those two things.
Now OP was furious and refused to let it slide. Unfortunately for the HOA board, they had no idea who they were dealing with… OP ended up tearing the whole board apart, replacing the members with other residents, and finally, getting the VP's house foreclosed for fines amounting to $10,000. How did he go about it? Well, he's a genius of course.
