There are countless films and TV shows where there is big drama at a wedding and someone gets left at the altar. I remember being a kid and watching that happen, and being confused about whether or not these things happen in real life. Now as an adult, I don't know of anyone who had to break off a wedding while it was happening, but there are many couples who decide to break off an engagement right before.
Like the couple in this Reddit story, in which surprisingly, the wedding break-off wasn't the most interesting thing that happened to them. Right before getting married, the future groom gets an opportunity to buy the bride's dream house, one with a rich family history. He plans to surprise her with it, but she unexpectedly breaks off the wedding before he does. Now 10 years later, he lives in that house and the ex-fiancé finds out that he owns it, and she is not happy about it.
