Am I delusional or have kid's tv shows gotten worse over time? I feel like we reached a peak in the 90s and early aughts where kid's programming was entertaining and smart enough for adults to watch as well. Shows like Rugrats, Avatar, and SpongeBob still have high rewatch value. They didn't play to the lowest common denominator, and some of the jokes were specifically put in there for adults. Maybe I'm not clued in enough, but I think with the advent of YouTube, quality children's shows get lost in the sea of clickbaity, oversaturated, asinine kid's content. Sorry, I don't want my kids to know about Fortnite until they're old enough to speak in full sentences. But they can watch as much Arthur as they please.
Maybe it's just a classic case of "kids these days" and I'm totally off base. But the parents behind this week's parenting tweets would probably have a lot to say on the subject.
