Neighbor's relationship freezes (along with their driveway) over plowing dispute: 'Some people be super lazy'

In rural areas, it's not uncommon to have long individual or shared driveways that aren't serviced by public services, instead being completely up to the owner/s to maintain. This can present some tricky situations for the unprepared in areas that regularly or irregularly receive heavy snowfall, where they might wake up one morning and find themselves unable to leave their home. The generous and thoughtful thing to do, if you have the proper equipment, is to plow your neighbor, ensuring they can leave and return to their home. This often takes a lot of time and hard work, so you wouldn't want to do it for someone who is ungrateful.

  • You'd think that there wouldn't be anyone who would take issue with a free service, particularly one they weren't able to handle themselves. But, as always with these things, there are those in this world capable of complaining and making issues out of anything. This neighbor was one of those types, choosing to take issue with the fact that her neighbor didn't plow her driveway after consecutive snowfalls, even going as far as leveling criticism on social media. The thing was, she hadn't offered thanks or made any effort when he had done it previously; instead, she seemingly expected it to be done as a thankless obligation each time it snowed.

    over after work and thanked me but I didn't hear from the neighbor next door. Over night another 6 inches fell so I plowed my driveway but none of the neighbors because I had to go to work.     home and was talking to another neighbor who saw the post and he told me she was home all day the first day and she didn't even come outside to thank me but instead chose to write a hateful message about me on Facebook. Her driveway is very long and it took me almost triple the time to do hers compared to mine. I would have plowed it when i got home but not after her writing that post which half my neighbors saw.     plowing her driveway in the first place. Since then another 3 inches fell and her driveway has around 9 inches of unplowed snow which will turn into ice tomorrow. She's asked other neighbors to plow it for her but all of them refused due to the Fb post. Have fun driving on ice for the next few weeks. Wasn't enought revenge as some of you hoped but it's enough for me lol.

    CanYouPointMeToTacos. 13 hr. ago We had a fairly long driveway growing up, as did our neighbors. My dad would plow it with his tractor and then go on to do the neighbors out of kindness. Our "incident" was that my neighbor insisted on paying my dad and my dad refused.

    This devolved into the kids (me and my neighbor) running to the other house and throwing an envelope of money into their doorway before slamming it shut and running back. This went on for a couple weeks until the neighbor gave up. 267 Reply Share

    MNJayW 20 hr. ago edited 3 hr. ago . I was out shoveling today and a neighbor I haven't met yet came down the street and blew what was left in my driveway. He had just gotten a new battery operated blower and wanted to see how well the battery would hold up. He was giggling the entire time.
