One of the first things that ever made me feel like an adult was when I started cutting people out of my life. While you are in high school or even college, the friends you make are kind of… by default. You are only friends with most of them because you are in the same space as them. The ones that stick through after these times are the ones who are really worth your time and effort. But occasionally, you have one or two friends who don't really make sense anymore. You have nothing in common, you meet up once in never, and you don't even actually like them.
That is why I believe one of the main rites of passage that lead to adulthood, is cutting these people out. Just like the woman in this Reddit thread did to one of her worst friends. This "friend" kept taking advantage of OP and her money, pretty much planning every time they met according to some financial need of hers. She needs her car fixed, she needs someone to pay for her shopping, and her last endeavor - she needs someone to drive her to her own baby shower.
I'm happy that OP didn't let this one go, and cut all ties with that manipulative woman. Scroll down for the full story, and once you are done, click here for a story of a couple who split up, but continued living together, until the new girlfriend moved in.
